Fine art photographer Julia Forrest will be residing in Novi from Aug. 21-Sept. 24 as the Villa Barr Art Park artist-in-residence.
Forrest is currently looking for any women interested in posing for her photography project during her five week stay. No experience is necessary, just a desire to be a part of the project and pose in some beautiful landscapes. Atmosphere will be casual and fun!
For examples of what you would be doing, please visit Julia’s website at
JuliaForrest.com. If interested, please email
Jforrest@artspaces.net, or text 631-902-8705. Forrest is a Brooklyn based artist who works exclusively in film and traditional darkroom processing to create images that present the viewer with a seemingly timeless untouched environment into which she insinuates a lifeforce, women, to create evocative pictorial illusion. The women in her photographs interact with the landscape, they blend with it, change it, hold part of it. No digital modification is used.
Forrest’s is a world of invented illusion in which she brings model, mirrors, props and location together in front of the lens to devise images of her own making. Forrest’s work has been seen in galleries throughout the East Coast, Midwest and internationally in Mexico and Taiwan. Her time at Villa Barr follows several residencies including Greece, Morocco, West Virginia, Taiwan, Finland, Mexico and Ithaca, New York. She conducts classes and workshops at The Brooklyn Museum, Abrons Art Center, and Urban Art Center.
