Throughout the City of Novi, there are Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in a variety of facilities including Novi Community School buildings, Novi Parks buildings, and the Novi Civic Center.

Novi Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services oversees six AEDs with two inside the Novi Civic Center, and four in various parks including Lakeshore Park, ITC Community Sports Park, and Ella Mae Power Park. The AED’s located at one of the Lakeshore locations, ITC and Ella Mae Power Park can only be accessed by City staff and are housed inside the Novi Civic Center from November through March due to the inability to keep the AED at the correct temperature.

With the increased usage of the parks throughout the City year-round, staff felt it was imperative to find an outdoor cabinet to house the AEDs in a variety of temperatures so the public could have access to them if needed. Ella Mae Power Park will house the first cabinet of this pilot program due to the large amount of activity in this park.
