Mayor Gatt is like most of us, missing friends, extended family, sports and that comforting sense of normalcy. However, through all of this he has been energized by how Novi has responded. Our residents and businesses have approached this challenging time with a "can-do" attitude and showcased the power of being together. As progress is being made it's important we remain steadfast and continue to stay home, stay safe and save lives.

Hello, Novi!
These last couple months haven't been easy. We are living through some challenging times and uncertainties abound. While this pandemic wages on, how we choose to respond to it must remain steadfast.
And how I have seen Novi respond, through proper social distancing of course, is nothing short of amazing. It's also what we have come to expect from our great city. Residents looking out for each other, rallying around our business community in their time of need and sharing positive messages on windows, doors, and sidewalks further emphasizing that we will all get through this together.
I am sure you are just like me, missing your family and friends, longing to go to the movies or enjoy an evening out for a nice meal at your favorite restaurant.
And if you are a sports fan, anyone who knows me knows how much I love our teams, you are missing those games, too. Right about now, we'd have about a month of baseball in and our beloved Tigers would be in first place.
Okay, maybe not. But, let's think about baseball for a minute. Right now our Novi team is battling a very powerful opponent, the coronavirus. It's been a tough contest but our Novi is doing everything they need to do. Staying home and staying safe.
I know you are tired, but it appears we are making headway, but let's say we are in the seventh inning stretch. We must be ready for our strongest fight to finish this out! We cannot slip now.
I am challenging each and every one of you to continue to do your part. Help our great city of Novi, our beautiful state of Michigan and the USA overcome this viral and deadly opponent.
Only go out for essentials. Practice social distancing when you must go out. Wear a face mask.
And, as the great Babe Ruth once said, "It's hard to beat a person who never gives up."
We can do this, Novi. We are in the home stretch. It takes a team and I know we have the very best!
Please continue to stay home, stay safe and save lives.
I cannot wait to see all your smiling faces again soon!
God bless you all!
