What is a steward? A steward is someone whose responsibility it is to take care of something. Tollgate stewards have a chance to enrich, mentor, and lead while gaining valuable leadership and life skills. At Tollgate Farm Camp, 60-80 stewards (ages 15-19) and stewards-in-training (ages 13-14) serve in leadership roles each summer as they mentor peers and campers.
In light of changes to our camp season in 2020, MSU Tollgate Farm is offering a virtual summer series for past, present, and future stewards and stewards-in-training. This is a safe place to connect or reunite as a community and to explore resiliency and growth as youth leaders during this time. Led by youth and moderated by staff, virtual sessions include an ice-breaker or team-building activity and guest presenters. Sessions include a door prize, and youth completing all seven sessions will receive a certificate of completion.
