Novi resident Eric Leung, who has served as a Paid-on-Call Firefighter for the Novi Fire Department since 2009, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant at a ceremony on May 13.
Lt. Leung has his certifications for Fire Fighter I & II and Hazardous Material Operations and the Emergency Medical Technician-Basic certification. He completed his certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician Course in 2016.
He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Michigan State University in 2004, and for the past five years has worked full-time as a design engineer for General Motors.
Lt. Leung received a Merit Citation in 2014 for his work during a structure fire caused by a propane tank from a grill that caught the residential house on fire. He and his partner’s decisive and quick actions saved the home from further damage and they extinguished the fire. Lt. Leung has received many thank you letters recognizing his service over the past 12 years.
“I have every confidence Paid-On-Call Fire Lieutenant Eric Leung will take our excellent, combination Fire Department to all new levels of excellence and achievement. Molloy. “Fire Chief Jeff Johnson and I look forward to working with him as we enhance our public safety programs throughout the community.”
