Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police Erick Zinser announced today the promotion of Assistant Fire Chief John Martin to Fire Chief.
 
Martin has been a member of the Novi Fire Department for just over 20 years. He served as an Auxiliary Fire Fighter, Fire Training Officer, Fire Captain and most recently, the Assistant Fire Chief beginning in 2019.
 
In his new role as Fire Chief, Martin will establish goals, objectives, and priorities for the continued operation of the department, develop and coordinate plans for efficient and effective fire prevention, and steer the Novi Fire Department toward even greater heights.
 
Martin has an associate degree in fire science from Macomb Community College and a bachelor's degree in public safety administration from Eastern Michigan University. He is also a graduate of Eastern Michigan's Fire Staff and Command Executive Leadership Program.
