Book title announced for 11th annual Community Reads
Published: 9/10/2020
Novi Public Library is again partnering with the Libraries of Lyon Township, Northville District, Salem-South Lyon District, Wixom Library, Walled Lake City Library, and Commerce Township Community Library to offer an exciting book for everyone to read, discuss, and engage in activities over the next two months.

This year, the Neighborhood Library Association (NLA) committee wanted to try something new to broaden reader's horizons by choosing a different book format - graphic novel. "Kent State: Four Dead in Ohio" by Derf Backderf, released at the beginning of September, chronicles the harrowing events that occurred at Kent State University 50 years ago on May 4, 1970, leaving four students dead. This moving and troubling graphic novel includes extensive interviews and research, and explores the lives of these four young people and the events of those four days in May.

Copies of the book are available at NPL for checkout in the "What's New" section on the first floor, in addition to copies available at the partnering libraries. There will also be a chance to watch and participate in a virtual interview and Q&A session with book author Derf Backderf on Thursday, Nov. 12 from 7-8:30pm. Register here. Additional programs will be offered in September and October! For more information, visit the NLA website.
