The Novi Men’s Cross Country team defended their Oakland County Championship title by winning the 2016 edition with an outstanding score of 73 points. Milford High School was a distant second with 153 (lowest score wins).

“All of our varsity runners brought their A-game today,” noted Coach Robert Smith. “They all ran really well”.

Returning All-Stater Gabe Mudel was first for Novi. His time of 16:25 was good for 4th place overall. “Gabe is slightly ahead of last year’s pace right now” exclaimed Coach Smith.

“Scott Macpherson had a fantastic finish to a fantastic race” noted Smith. “Scott was flying through the finish line”. Macpherson finished in the top ten, coming in 9th with a 16:39.

Aric Landy continued his hot streak, coming in 13th in a time of 16:44. Right on his heals was his brother John who came in 14th in 16:46.

Trey Mullins rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats. The sophomore ran an impressive (36th) 17:09 on the challenging Possum Hollow course inside Kensington Metro Park. Junior Nate Wood (36th) 17:10 was right there for insurance and to displace the other teams’ top five.

“We were the only team with four All-County (top 30) runners” said Smith. “And all of ours were in the Top 15”. “That, along with a strong 5th and 6th made it impossible for the other teams to make a strong challenge”.
