Men's Cross Country off to a fast start
SOUTH LYON, MI -
The Novi Men’s Cross Country Team
opened their season with a convincing win at the South
Lyon Invitational this past Saturday.
Novi scored just 19 points (low
score wins) as they cruised past the competition in the
10 team field….taking places 1,3,4,5,6,7, and 8.
Novi was led by Senior Scott
Macpherson (photo left), who took first place honors
with a fast time of 16:34. “Scott was in a battle with a
runner from Whitmore Lake for the entire race” noted
Coach Robert Smith. “He stayed focused and then pulled
away for the win with about 600 meters to go”.
Senior John Landy was second for
our Wildcats and third overall with a fine time of
16:44. Right on his heals was his twin brother Aric.
Aric ran a 16:46 which was a career PR for him. “It is
highly unusual for a top athlete to set a career
personal record in the first meet of the season” said
Coach Smith. “He is really running well right now”.
Junior Gabe Mudel was 4th for Novi
with a solid time of 17:18. “It was a good race for
Gabe, but I know he will be even faster at our next
meet. He is a returning all-stater”.
Sophomore Trey Mullins (17:27),
Junior Nate Wood (17:31) and Senior Chris Silva (17:35)
rounded out the top 7 for Novi. “All 7 of our varsity
runners ran extremely well today” said Smith. “I had a

The Novi JV squad proved that they
were ready as well. They scored just 18 points, taking
places 1,2,3,5,7,8, and 9. The top 7 runners were: Tim
Truly (18:22), Nathan James (18:22), Satvik Malapati
(18:36), Prateek Bhola (18:45), Matt Gamm (18:49),
Dallas Foley (19:07) and Ben Robbins (19:10).
