Novi JV Lacrosse mauls Plymouth Wildcats 15-2
April 28, 2008 by Marcia J. Boynton

This week Plymouth joined a long line of area JV lacrosse teams mauled by Novi’s Wildcats. In a 15-2 win, Novi’s JV Lacrosse team spread the scoring around, with multi-goal performances by Alec Lemieux, Trevor Patterson and Zach Mohr.

In the first two minutes of play, Alec Lemieux put a goal on the board, followed quickly by scoring contributions from Tyler Burnett and Trevor Patterson. Steve Lazarus was in on the Burnett goal for an assist.

With five minutes remaining in the quarter, Lemieux ducked into the crease from behind the net and dropped his second goal over the Plymouth goalie’s head.

Plymouth followed up with a direct drive to the net for a goal, but this was the only goal they put on the board until the final few minutes of play.

With the score at 4-1, Ryan Cordes took control at the face off, sprinted for the net, and made a clean bounce past the Plymouth goalie to push the score to 5-1, Novi. For good measure, Brandon Juodikis delivered a last minute shot to close out the first period at 6-1.

As has been its pattern in recent games, Novi dominated scoring in the second quarter, opening with a goal by David Sparling, assisted by Eric Santure. Quickly, Trevor Patterson followed up with another scoring goal, supported by Matt Dircks. With the score at 8-1, Zach Mohr slammed another one past the goalie for a new score of 9-1.

Just before the half, Kyle Diephuis scooped an important sideline recovery, and made a quick transfer to Justin Purdy. In moments, the ball had moved to Tim Kolis, who scored to close out the half at 10-1 Novi.

Back to back scoring in the third quarter – with next to no resistance from Plymouth – took the score to 15-1. Wildcats putting points on the board in this quarter were Trevor Patterson, Zach Mohr, Alec Lemeiux, Joon Kim and Matt Dircks.

Plymouth rallied in the fourth quarter to put one more point up, for a final score of 15-2.
