Novi Inline wins 2, loses 1 over the past weekend
April 28, 2008

The Novi Varsity Inline Hockey team finished this past weekend winning 2 of 3 games and battling for top spot in the standings with a 5-2 record.

On Thursday the 'Cats had a dominating performance, toppling Walled Lake Central 11-3. The top scorer was Senior Captain Adam Szajner with 5 points.

In Friday's contest against Howell, Novi continued the winning streak with a convincing 8-4 victory. Top performers were Senior Captain Andrew Haggerty and Juniors Jared Beers, Shane McCusker and Zach Trotman - all with 3 points each.

The final game of the weekend saw Novi facing off a fast and talented Walled Lake Western club. Novi fought hard and came from behind twice to even the score, making it a 2-2 game in the middle of the 3rd period. WLW was able to convert on a power play shortly after the tying goal with less than 4 minutes to play.

The Cats were again penalized and forced to pull senior goaltender Vince Vitale, only to have the Warriors score two empty-netters and cap their night with a 5-2 victory over the Cats.

"Our boys competed hard and had several opportunities to win this game. The fact we are able to play at high level with very little inline experience says a lot about our skill level and our desire to be the best," said Coach  Smith following the game.
