Novi Men's Cross Country Loses a Close One
Brighton wins the only way they could: taking the top 3 slots
9/29/2005 by Scott Olson
The Wildcat Men's Cross
Country team lost a close one 26-30 to the Bulldogs at Brighton
Wednesday. The only way Brighton could win this one, according
to Wildcat Coach Bob Smith, was to take the top three slots.
That's exactly what happened, and Novi took the next five.
Several Wildcats had impressive
times at the meet. Alex Prasad and Mike Wheat both broke the
17:00 mark to take first and second for Novi. Kenny MacDonough,
Josh Lumley and Luke Barnes also set personal bests to take the
next three positions. Interestingly, all ten of Novi's top
runners were under-classmen in this race.
Coach
Smith notes of the race, "We ran very fast yesterday. We are
also learning how to race. Not one of our top 10 runners was a
senior. Since we had two all-staters over the last couple of
years, it is still a new experience for our current
front-runners to actually be in front! They are learning fast. I
am very excited about this team as we turn the corner into the
month of October. All the hard
work is paying off."
Next up, the Wildcats take on
South Lyon Tuesday, October 4th at Novi's Cass Benton Park.
