Girl's C.C. Loses by 1
Point!
27-28 Loss Lessened By Great U of D Race
9/14/2005 by Alex Prasad
The past five days have been a roller
coaster for the Novi Women's Cross Country team. Their saga started out on
Saturday at the University of Detroit Invite. While the meet was not
scored, the Wildcats certainly would have, at very least, come close to
winning the meet.
The
Girls finished 5th (Meghann Bannatz 21:16), 6th (Erin Haynes 21:31), 7th
(Andrea Kramer 21:37), 9th (Erica Howard 21:45), and 10th (Emily Barton
21:48).
The
exhilaration of Saturday's strong race however was dialed down a bit after
the team's close 27-28 loss to the Lady Highlanders of Howell. Meghann
Bannatz finished first for the Cat's with a time of 21:50. The Girls led,
and held the first five spots after a mile, until the heat (it was 90
degrees at race time) got to them.
Coach
Reid believes the loss, while not a good thing, was a learning experience.
"...I think
our girls were able to come away from
this experience having learned a lot."
The
team's next meet is this Saturday The Walled Lake Western Invitational.
The meet is run at the infamous "The Hill" course.
