Restaurant Review

"What Italian was meant to be," they claim at Novi's Andiamo. It is. Expect excellent food and service here. Anything less and we're pretty sure Joe Vicari, the restaurant group's President, would not be pleased. The Novi Andiamo is one of ten in the metro-Detroit area.

Complementary valet parking was a pleasant treat at one of the region's busiest local collections of bars, clubs and restaurants - Main Street Novi.

When you step inside Andiamo's, you are promptly greeted. Reservations are helpful at this point, especially on busy evenings.

Novi's Andiamo is actually four different places in one. On the ground floor is the main dining room, and a smaller dining room to the rear. The Andiamo Lounge is located just behind the greeters and is very comfortable.

Sneak up the stairs behind the bar and you'll find the entrance to the Second City Comedy Club, and another bar. Climbing another short flight of stairs leads to the Dirty Martini Bar - something you just have to experience in person. No way we can do it justice in writing here.

The main dining room at Andiamo is a large room with a very high ceiling and windows to the west. Very comfortable chairs add to the experience. It's a bit loud inside, but not uncomfortably so.

Service is efficient, professional and prompt. It was also very friendly. In fact, we noted that every server went out of their way to show interest in a friendly manner to every table. Someone is doing an excellent job with the hiring and training here.

The menu consists of a nice variety of Italian dishes in the $15 - $30 range. Bread, salad or soup, and side of pasta are included with most entrées. Their complete menu is available online here. Remember to save room for some delicious deserts. The coffee was excellent too.

A delicious basket of bread was delivered almost immediately. The salad was fresh and nicely presented. A delicious dish of pasta came next. The steak was done to perfection, and of excellent quality. The Filetto Di Manzo is beyond compare.

Overall, this is a very good restaurant in a great location that delivers what they promise. Most restaurants in Novi deliver good service. The service here is a step above most - you won't be disappointed.
