State Rep. Kathy Crawford lauds plan to increase government transparency
February 2, 2017

LANSING, MI - State Rep. Kathy Crawford yesterday praised the introduction of an 11-bill bipartisan plan that makes state government more accountable to the people of Michigan.

Crawford, of Novi, joined her colleagues today in announcing the reform plan to make the governor and lieutenant governor subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and create a set of similar rules for state representatives and senators called the Legislative Open Records Act (LORA). The bills are similar to a legislative effort that was approved by the House last session, but did not reach the governor’s desk for approval.

“The people of Michigan deserve a more accountable state government,” Crawford said. “Ultimately, we’re all here to serve the public, and they should have the right to monitor what we’re doing and how their hard-earned tax dollars are being spent.”
