Hash-burglar allegedly robs Novi Burger King, immediately busted

NOVI, MI - An order of hash browns, a pistol, marijuana and public transportation didn't go over well for a Detroit resident who allegedly tried to rob Novi's Burger King on Thursday morning.

The 20 year-old Detroit resident, Jalen Deangelo Gomez, reportedly entered Novi's Burger King at 7:46 a.m. After a few minutes he left and then entered the business. He ordered hash browns, then drew a pistol and demanded cash, reports Novi PD.

Gomez walked away with $343 in cash and ran to a SMART bus stop on Haggerty Road, north of Grand River Ave.  He boarded the bus, which headed east into Farmington Hills

Novi Police Officers arrived on the scene in under one minute of being dispatched. Officers talked to two witness that described a male subject matching Gomez’s description.

Officers, knowing time was of the essence, contacted the SMART dispatch who located the bus by GPS. Farmington Hills Police located and stopped the bus. Gomez was taken into custody without incident.

The Oakland County Prosecutors Office Issued the follow charges today:

Armed Robbery

Felony Firearm

Carry Concealed Weapon

Possession of Marijuana

Gomez was arraigned on Friday, September 9th before Magistrate Andra Richardson of the 52-1 District Court in Novi who ordered him held on $150,000 Cash bond. Gomez was transported to the Oakland County Jail. His next court date is set for 9:15 a.m. on September 21st before the Honorable Judge David Law.
