Novi Police report multiple gun shots just north of station early Monday morning
March 8, 2016

NOVI, MI -  Officials confirm that they responded to two separate reports of gun shots heard in the subdivisions just north of police station early Monday morning.

At approximately 1:34 a.m. Monday, a 911 call was received from the 43000 block of Stassen (Clark sub-division, west of Novi Rd. and south of Grand River Ave.) reporting gunshots in the area. Two officers checked the area and did not find or hear anything else suspicious.

At approximately 2:10 a.m., another 911 call was received, this time from the 44000 block of Mansfield (Jamestown sub-division, north of 10 Mile Rd. and west of Novi Rd, and just south of earlier call). The two officers from the earlier call were still in the area and began checking immediately. The officers also heard the multiple gunshots that were reported.

Two more officers went to the area to assist, but did not find the responsible party. Prior to his arrival in the area, a police supervisor was rerouted to assist another officer with the fleeing driver on Haggerty Road.

None of the officers were able to determine where the gunshots were coming from. Early Monday morning, officers checked the area in daylight. They found nothing. There have been no further reports of trouble in the area since.

Officials do not believe the gunshot calls were in any way related to the fleeing driver, and the incidents happened several miles apart.
