turnout for Primary Election in Novi

Novi, MI - Just 21% of
registered voters cast a ballot in the Primary Election
in Novi on Tuesday, 5,033 Republican and 2,812
Democratic. The big winners were Novi's Roads, and the
DIA.
Voters approved raising
taxes for road work by 54%, and locally approved of a
new tax to fund the DIA (Detroit Institute of Arts) by
64%. This means more dollars for Novi's local roads, and
free admission starting today to the DIA in Detroit for
all residents.
In the hotly contested race
for a Republican candidate for the 11th Congressional
District, Kerry Bentivolio won overall with 66% of the
votes, and in Novi won with just 51% of the votes
against write-in candidate Nancy Cassis. He was the only
name on the ballot. On the Democratic side, Syed Taj won
overall with 59% of the vote, and won in Novi with 64%.
For U.S. Senate, Peter
Hoekstra won overall and locally with 54% of the votes
in a field of four contenders.
For Oakland County Circuit
Judge, Karen McDonald won overall, and locally with 39%
of the votes in a field of five contenders.
