Novi's
voter-approved elementary school enhancements a success
Under budget and looking great, administration, students
and staff all pleased with school remodeling

In May, 2007, Novi's voters invested in the future by approving a
bond issue to allow Novi's Community Schools to remodel three aging
elementary schools, and make technology and security enhancements to
all of Novi's schools.The
budgeted and voter-approved $18 million
"Equitable Buildings" renovations portion included Village Oaks, Parkview and
Orchard Hills Elementary Schools. This included new art, music and
gym rooms and other improvements at each school, as well as
classroom enlargements at Parkview.
The goal was to make all
of Novi's elementary schools equal in their ability to educate
Novi's children. Upgrades to these older elementary schools were deemed necessary
to make them equivalent to newer schools.
Fast-forward 18 months. The planning
and construction work has been completed, and from all appearances
it has been a great success. Superintendent Peter Dion notes that
the project was completed as planned and under budget.
Administration, students and staff all seem very pleased with the
end result.
