The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to begin work Monday, April 28, of the resurfacing of sections of five roads in Lyon Township.

The work, which will encompass 7.3 miles of roads, a simple one-and-a-half-inch asphalt overlay, which is expected to extend the life of the roads by about 10 years.

The road segments to be resurfaced are:

- Grand River Ave., Kent Lake Road to Milford Road

- Pontiac Trail, Silver Lake Road to Grand River Ave.

- Kent Lake Road, Silver Lake Road to Grand River Ave.

- Silver Lake Road, Dixbora Road to Pontiac Trail

- Martindale Road, 10 Mile Road to just south of 11 Mile Road

While the roads will remain open to traffic at all times, there will be intermittent lane closures and temporary travel delays.

Work is expected to be completed by May 30.

The total cost for the project is $924,000. Eighty percent of the cost is being covered by federal funds. The remaining 20 percent ($184,800) is covered by a Michigan Jobs Today grant.

The work will be completed by Ajax Paving of Troy.
