Things Are Looking Bright for Novi and
the Class of 2007

6/7/07

As the Novi High School Class of 2007 look toward their futures and get ready to "walk" this Saturday, good news continues to greet Novi residents. But you have to look carefully to find it.

Even as the state and region continue to be deluged with sour news daily, there are many bright spots - and many of those are coming from our fine city.

Last week, it was announced that Novi High School is in the top 5% of high schools in the country. This just a couple weeks after Novi was one of few cities in the region to approve a millage for the betterment of the schools. Fantastic!

While the FBI reported this week that Detroit had an increase in crime last year, the Novi Police Department's numbers show Novi continues to be a safe city, and is getting even safer year after year. Amazing!

This week ITC, headquartered in Novi, announced it is expanding into Kansas. That means Novi is quickly becoming the electrical power management hub of the Midwest. Wonderful!

Great schools, a safe city, and continued local business expansions are sure to bring more people and opportunities to Novi and the surrounding area. Novi's future really does look bright, just as does Novi's Class of 2007, who are graduating from one of the nation's finest high schools.

We the People are pleased that Novi continues to shine, and that we're able to report on the successes of our city, our schools, and our local businesses week after week. Leaders including Mayor Landry, Superintendent Dion, City Manager Pearson, Chief Molloy, and many others are the people who make these things happen locally, and they're fantastic role models for the Class of 2007 too.

Novi really is a great place to live and work, and it just keeps getting better. And for the Class of 2007, this isn't a bad place to stay either (although mom and dad might prefer you moved a little further away - at least for college).

p.s. - Moose the K-9 recently joined the Novi Police Department (STORY). Did you know Officer Shawn Penzak paid for the dog and his initial training? That's one dedicated cop!

p.p.s. - Yes, traffic violations are also up in Novi. But if they weren't, the accident rate probably wouldn't haven fallen at the same time...
