The People's Editorials It's all in the numbers
1/24/2007 Novi's schools have long been held as an example of excellence in education, and that's a great thing for our community in so many ways. As Superintendent Peter Dion explained this week, "MEAP tests are not to be used as a stand-alone measure, but, to be looked upon as a continuum over a number of years to evaluate our strengths and weaknesses." Well said. In fact, Novi improved in every category over the past year - one of only three districts county-wide to do so. The trend is definitely positive, and our new superintendent is certainly steering this ship in the right direction. Our excellent schools are getting even better. We the People are very pleased with these results. It's a testament to the excellent teachers and school administrators we have in Novi. It's also a testament to the support provided to Novi's kids, especially by their parents, and also by the community as a whole. Quite simply, we've got some great, dedicated people in Novi who know where to put their priorities. Numbers don't lie. These are solid results that the entire community can be proud of.
Well done to all! And remember, just because something looks easy
does not mean it's easy. It means someone knows what they're doing.
And in this case, our teachers, school administrators, and of course
the kids and their parents all deserve
major kudos! p.s. - When you consider how well Novi's schools are doing, keep in mind that the Novi Library is also a key part of our community's educational opportunities. They need your support to keep up with our growing community.
