Rock
Financial Showplace Opens
Grand opening celebration a huge success
8/28/05 by Christopher Lilla
Saturday August 27th 2005, was the official opening
of the Rock Financial Showplace. On Friday the 26th,
there was a ticketed event held there with all proceeds going to
Providence Park Medical Center. The Rock Financial Showplace is
now the largest privately owned Conference, Convention and
Exhibition Center in Michigan. This enormous and beautiful
building is 320,000 square feet including 214,000 square feet of
Exhibition space.
On the 27th,
people of all ages gathered here for the public grand opening.
Organizations such as the Festival of Trees, which is a benefit
for the Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Kuddles for Kids,
putting together stuffed animals for kids were there, where
there.
Several radio
stations were on hand, including Oldies 104.3, 106.7, and
AM910. Kids ages 2-15 enjoyed themselves jumping around on
moonwalks, playing a little jumping basketball, sliding down
inflatable slides 20 feet high, and also running around with red
and blue painted faces and streaked hair, supporting the Detroit
Pistons. Members from the Novi Police, Fire Department, and
even the U.S. Army were there.
The new Rock
Financial Showplace is a partnership between Rock Financial and
TBON (The Best of Novi) LLC. They expect more than 1.5 million
visitors yearly, which will produce more than $250 million in a
financial impact for Novi and the metro-area in the first year
of operations alone.
This building
is truly magnificent and should be looked at and appreciated by
all of the Novi community. It is located on Grand River Avenue
just east of Beck Road.
If you didn't already, be sure to stop by and check it out!
