Class of 2003 is Prepared Well
for the Real World

June, 2003

Novi High School's seniors had their last day of high school on Wednesday, June 4. After the fifteen minute mixture of crying, goodbyes, running and screaming through the halls, the seniors four year tenure at the high school came to a log awaited, yet surprisingly sudden end. All that's left now of their Novi school careers is Graduation, which will take place at Compuware Sports Arena at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8th.

The Novi Community School District education has paid off for most of the
seniors, who will be attending college next year. The majority of college-bound
seniors won't be too far from home either, as the most popular college choices are those that are in state. Whether it is Michigan State, Michigan, Central, Eastern, Western, or one of the other many colleges the class of 2003 will be attending, they are sure to excel wherever they end up. It's true that very few school districts, if any, can educate and prepare a student for the
"real world" better than the Novi Community School District can.

There's no doubt that everyone in Novi High School wishes the seniors well, but as always, the show must go on. As it does every year, the senior's early departure provokes much change within the school. Once the sadness wears off, the celebration begins for the juniors. Many broke out their decorative home-made "Seniors" shirts, in order to let everyone know who is now in
charge. Though they may be 3 months early on officially declaring themselves seniors, there's no longer anyone to stop them. Also, considering 1/4 of our school is missing, it's definitely a lot less crowded in the halls. The same goes for classes, where at times you can find as little as one student and one
teacher in a classroom. Even though the seniors have left, the 10-Mile "senior parking lot" is still being flooded with cars in the morning, but of course it's just the juniors looking to cut their normal walking distance in half.

All in all, these changes will only last a week, and in 3 months Novi High School will gain 1/4 of the school back. The torch will be passed on, and the Class of 2004 will take over the school. This year's up-and-comers will be next year's stars in Novi athletics. Look for new numbers and faces making
that touchdown saving tackle, or clutch 3-pointer. In fact, many of next year's
seniors played key-roles in their team's success this year, leaving only room
for improvement next year. Clubs will be led by different people, and new DJ's will be heard on the high school radio station (89.5 WOVI), along with many other changes. It will be interesting to see the differences in all aspects of the school next year, as another group of seniors prepare to leave,
and another group of freshmen prepare to stay.

It's going to be tough not having the seniors around next year, as many older siblings, friends, and young leaders become adults, and enter life's real world. As the Class of 2004 takes over at Novi High School, this year's seniors will surely be missed by everyone. Their maturity and kindness has set a new standard for the school that next year's seniors can only hope to live up to.
